  • What happened beforeA spill, a drop, a power cut, or it just stopped.

A laptop that won’t turn on is a symptom, not a single fault. It can be a dead charger, a battery that has failed, a screen that has stopped working while the laptop runs, or a fault on the motherboard such as a shorted power part. Each one needs a different repair, so the first job is finding which it is.

We start with the simple parts. We test the charger, then the battery, then connect an external monitor. If those are fine, the laptop goes on our bench power supply, which shows how much current the board draws and whether there is a short. From there we measure the power rails and find the part that failed.

Common questions about laptop not turning on

Why is my laptop not turning on even when charging?

It can be the charger, the charging port, a dead battery or a fault on the motherboard. Try a hard reset first: unplug, hold the power button for 30 seconds, then try again with the charger in.

My laptop turns on but the screen is black. What is wrong?

If you see lights or hear the fan, the laptop may be running with a dead screen. Connect an external monitor to check. See laptop screen replacement.

Is my data safe if my laptop won’t turn on?

Usually the storage is fine even when the laptop is dead. See laptop data recovery if you need your files first.

Can you fix a laptop that died after a spill?

Often, yes. Don’t charge it. Bring it in so we can clean the board before corrosion spreads. See laptop water damage repair.

Do you repair laptops that service centres said can’t be fixed?

Yes, we look at them. Many of those are board faults where one part failed. We repair at chip level, so we quote for that part, not a whole new board.

How much does it cost to fix a laptop that is not turning on?

It depends on what failed. Diagnosis is free and you get a quote before any work. WhatsApp 97392 21133 or 98869 19198.
