Laptop keyboards come in two kinds. On many older and business laptops the keyboard is a separate part held by a few screws or clips, so a replacement is quick. On most new thin laptops the keyboard is fixed to the top case around it, so the whole top case is replaced or the keyboard is carefully removed from it.
Before replacing anything we check whether the problem is the keyboard at all. A loose ribbon cable, liquid on the connector or a fault on the board can make keys stop working. We also match the layout, the backlight and the colour, so the new keyboard looks like the one that came with the laptop.
